New Page 4 Mini Moon Pigs

Miniature pigs make gentle but also playful pets. They are easily house trained
so they are often kept as an indoor pet.

Pigs are quite intelligent creatures and because they are smart they are also
social and sensitive beings. To be content they need the companionship of others.

Pigs kept outdoors do best if they have other pigs with them. If you have just one pig, you’ll need to provide a lot more physical and mental stimulation to keep your pig happy.

All of mini moons miniature pigs and piglets are well socialized and have lots of other animal species around them. Our piglets are handled daily. We strive to produce exceptionally gentle and loving animals.

Piglets available for purchase.  Please e-mail for more information and check our (for sale) page.

Genetics determine the mature size of a miniature pig. We do not inbreed or starve out pigs to stay small.
Mini Moons does not select runts or unhealthy animals for breeding stock. We are breeding miniature pigs crossed
with miniature Juliana pigs to achieve a desired body shape and size.
Juliana's are small, averaging about 10-16 inches and
weighing 30-60 pounds. The Juliana has a more-delicatebone structure, less of a belly and longer legs and nose
than it's more familiar cousin, the potbellied pig.

•  Feed a diet specifically made for miniature pigs. In addition to the formulated diet, you can feed  a good variety of fresh vegetables.
They need adequate nutrition while not underfeeding.

• Do not overfeed - never feed as much as they will eat since pigs have voracious appetites. If over fed your 20 pound pig can grow
to a 50-70 pound obese pig. This overfeeding will lead to severe disabling diseases.

• Ensure plenty of fresh water is always available

• An indoor pig needs a crate or room to retreat to when it needs quiet or to sleep. Place a blanket and a comfort toy in the place
where you want your pig to sleep.

• An outdoor pig must have shelter from wind, cold and heat.  In the winter, an insulated house similar to a doghouse
is a must. Equip the pig house with blankets, straw and a heat lamp
.

• Inside pigs can also be trained to go outside to relieve themselves, just like dogs can. By 3-5 months old they can begin
   to control urination.

• Do not use clay cat litter in the pigs litter box. Pine shavings, newspaper litter and sand are safer.

• Your pig should be wormed twice a year. Hoofs trimmed as needed.

• Should your pet pig be vaccinated? That is a question of some debate in the pig world. Check with your local vet.

• Your pet must be spayed or neutered. My vet recommends having males neutered at 3 months and females at 5 months.
